Transport for London has further extended the deadline for the TfL English Test for Private Hire minicab drivers in London.  The new date is 30 September 2021.

What does this mean?

Drivers who have applied for their new PCO licence or renewed their PCO licence on or before 14th October 2016 will have until 30th September 2021 to provide evidence for the TfL English language requirement.

If your current renewal date falls after this date, then you will need to provide the evidence at the time of application. If you are applying new, then you have until 30th September 2021.

What are the changes in the new TfL English Test?

Driver must prove they pass the English Language requirement by providing certificates from school or college, such as GCSE, A-Level, NVQ or Degree certificates or similar.  For drivers who do not have these qualifications, they will have to take their English test.

Alternative English tests for TfL can be the Trinity B1 English, which is the same as the B1 exam people to for UK citizenship.
